The Hughes Family | Cozy, Fall Chicago Lifestyle Session

David and Nicole invited me into their home in Illinois for a lifestyle session with their newest, cutest family member: Theo. I arrived to a quaint, brick apartment in a quieter Chicago neighborhood, adorned with vintage doorknobs, radiators, and wooden floors... and one of the happiest babies I've ever met.

When you all have matching pjs, you best believe you use them for a photoshoot:

We headed outside and across the street to a funky little park with lush, wild gardens. Check out Theo's tiny Minnetonka's, they're too cute for words!! On a side note, my longtime friend, Amanda, came along for the ride to Chicago to get sushi with me and to do those touristy things, like walk along Navy Pier and take strange phone pics at the bean. Theo's attention span was fading in the end (totally normal, because childhood!), so I put Amanda to work and had her wave around a scarf to get his attention for a few frames, ha! For the most part though, I try to steer my sessions in a way to evoke more candid shots by directing through motion versus stagnant poses. But still, a couple simply posed shots are always a good idea for wall-hangers for your parents or that Christmas card shot ;)

If that last photo of Theo snuggling his daddy didn't melt your heart, I don't know what will ;)
