June '21 Photo Roundup

Often I don’t get my blog posts out because I feel the need to write something more profound. This is my attempt to just share and let the images speak. Welcome to our month of June outside of work hours.

Byrdie + Jeeves | Because Puppies

It seems like all at once, everyone we knew adopted puppies! In early June, my parents adopted their first purebred English Setter pup, Byride! She’s surpassed Jeeves in height and weight now, once upon a time she was the little fluff nugget in these frames.

Sometimes you just a need a photo refresh! I’ve loved photographing Josh and Maddie for quite some time! Just for fun, their proposal, their engagement photos, their wedding, and here we are now. Need another reason to scroll through these images? They brought their beloved golden doodle, Otto, along for the shoot who can be seen bouncing around and attacking all of the snow at the end!

The Hart Family | Cozy Home + Hiking Lifestyle Session

Hailey and John had me over to document everyday shenanigans in their home, then invited me along for a hike on the Maasto Hihto trails. This post contains micro-moments of couch jumping, dog snuggling, and playing hockey in the living room. On the hike, they had packed snacks and set up a little picnic on the riverbank while throwing rocks, attempting to beat the splash record each time.

Joe + Jackie | Christmas Home Lifestyle Session

Joe and Jackie are dear friends of ours and I had the privilege to photograph their wedding a couple years back! We met up a few weeks ago to take a few updated images so they could send out holiday cards. To keep the photos true to Joe and Jackie, they snuggled up on their couch, loved up on their beloved (and very festive) boxer, Diesel, and uncorked some homemade wine.

Getting Ready for Baby Lindemann

As you may already know, we’re expecting Baby Lindemann… and SOON! Patrick + Brittany | All of the Marquette Things: An Engagement Session

Originally, Brittany and Patrick would’ve been saying I do on a rooftop in Kalamazoo this Saturday, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a change of plans as they look ahead to the early summer of 2021 now. To honor what would’ve been their wedding week, I’m sharing their Marquette-themed engagement session to showcase what they love to do together: hang out on Lake Superior, sip brews at Ore Dock Brewing Co, climb Sugarloaf, enjoy the best food, and hang around the downtown in general!

They went on 4th of July getaway to Eagle Harbor, Michigan, where Mike has spent much of his summers growing up. He proposed to Megan along the Great Sand Bay while they toasted s’mores over a bonfire on the beach at sunset. Their July wedding brought them back to Eagle Harbor yet again, where all of their family and guests prepared in quaint cottages near the conglomerate shores of Lake Superior.

Justin + Lena | Snowy, Adventurous Ironwood Elopement

Lena and Justin drove to the Gogebic County courthouse on snowy, late December morning. Their fat tire bikes were loaded in the back of their truck, and their two pups, Debo and Chico, waited with tails wagging in the backseat. For Lena and Justin, eloping was an easy decision for them - partly romantic, but also logistics. With Lena being a teacher, Christmas vacation was the perfect time to elope and to escape on a little getaway together.

Year 26

Entering age 26 doesn’t feel as scary as entering age 25 did. Something about turning a quarter of a century just made me feel old. I was stuck looming over the question of have I done enough so far if my life is a quarter of the way lived? But if there’s anything I’ve learned in the past year, it is that I’m still so young and feel full of life.
