Jon & Ashley | Wine, Dachshunds, + Thunderstorms
The forecast called for downpour and thunderstorms. Jon and Ashley invited me into their Iron Mountain home with a clear and simple vision: to document a normal day in their lives. For them, this consisted of entertaining in the kitchen, drinking wine, and hanging out with their two longhaired dachshunds, Otto and Arlo.
Beyond the shoot, we conversed for hours and sipped on a variety of wines and beers (Jon is making some of the beer for their wedding!). That's right, I said "we" as in they got their photographer a little tipsy and we hung out as if we've known each other forever. We talked about adventures, how Jon coined the hipster look way before it was even cool and millennials took it over, how moscato is indeed syrup and not real wine, and the struggle of being a coffee snob but having a hard time actually making the perfect cup of coffee yourself. I LOVE my job for the friendships forged while documenting lives and the details that constitute who people individually are.
I can hardly begin to explain how ecstatic I am to celebrate Jon and Ashley's wedding with them this August in Spread Eagle, Wisconsin with Arlo and Otto at their sides as their wedding party... #weddinggoals.
I've never seen the Army of Darkness, but Ashley rightfully insisted on Jon wearing his "boom stick" shirt for a few frames. I'm forevermore referring to guns as "boom sticks" now, hahaha.
We took to the backyard for a few more frames, making sure to include Jon's motorcycle in the end.
You two nailed it ;) See ya in a few weekends!
