Dreary Lake Superior Portraits
We dread the downpour and crave the the sun's presence. We overlook the beauty that births in the dreariness: the flourishing lichens on the rocks and the trees, the soothing sound of rain colliding with runoff pools, the natural coolness that erases the baked heat of our concrete monotony that creates our towns and cities. There's a catharsis that happens with every rainfall and when our streets, homes, and lakes are engulfed in fog. I believe we should use the dreariness as a time to reflect, a time to regroup, and perhaps a time to fling yourself into a rainstorm without hesitation. Water most apparently washes the flesh over our bones, but I believe when it falls from the sky it cleanses beyond what we physically see.
