L’Anse High School
Class of 2021
I’m jumping on the Senior Sunday bandwagon because c’mon, how amazing are our seniors finishing up high school in these crazy pandemic times?! Chloe and I go back a ways to when she and her older sister, Abby, joined figure skating! At some point in time, I have helped coach both young ladies and it’s been incredible to see them both grow.
Shoutout to Gisele Ryan for Chloe’s hair and makeup - Gisele always does an incredible job!
We began Chloe’s shoot in a vibrant patch of lupines.
We moved onto another flower patch and some of this portion gave me some serious Taylor Swift Dreamer vibes:
From there, we moved on to the beach. Important tip: if you want beach photos, save them for closer to sunset if you’re shooting in the evening. Lakes (especially when as vast as Lake Superior) are huuuuge reflectors, which can be great or sometimes to your detriment. For portraits, the morning and evening tend to be better to get stellar skin tones. While the lake may look more vibrantly blue in the middle of the day, it’s not necessarily most ideal for close up portrait shots for an event such as high school senior photos.
Speaking of good reflectors… hello, sand pit! Maybe it’s not your typical envisioned location for a photo session, but dang, those tones!
We made a quick stop in some towering tall grass because dang - that light!!! We incorporated Chloe’s figure skates as well:
Is there a such thing as overdoing the beach? We think not! We still had some remaining light to chase, so we drove around to the L’Anse side of the bay for a few final portraits:
