The Hart Family | Cozy Home + Hiking Lifestyle Session
Being a part of the creative community gives me the gratifying opportunity to get to know other inspiring creatives, like Hailey Hart of Hart Photo Co. During the summer months, Hailey and John had me over to document some everyday shenanigans in their home, then invited me along for a hike on the Maasto Hihto trails as well. Around the beginning of the pandemic, they welcomed a new family member to their home, their pup, Freya. We made sure to document their cherished love for her too between moments of couch jumping and playing hockey in the living room. On the hike, they had packed snacks and had a little picnic on the riverbank all while throwing rocks, attempting to beat the splash record each time.
Onto the hike! Haileyβs backpack reminds me of old photos we have of my mom carrying us in a backpack carrier too. Hats off to all mothers getting their kids outside and being present with them!
Maastoβs trails are pure magic. Hailey told me how she explored these trails with her family for years. I was personally only introduced to the system just a few years back when my sister ran cross country at Hancock Central High. In the spring, the forest floor is consumed in a sea of forget-me-nots. The fall is blissfully littered in crunchy, colorful leaves. The winter cloaks the land in heavy snows where we often glide around on skis. In the summer, itβs a beautiful oasis in the valley with lush greens amid sturdy trunks of maple and birch. The creek area reminds me of one of my old favorite childhood movies, FernGully!
Once we climbed back out of the gully, we snapped a few pictures of mom and dad too because mom and dad are just as important as the kids! Kids tend to steal the show during family sessions (I mean, rightfully so), but all part of the family are important to document, including parents.
