Kaisa
Hancock Central High
Class of 2017
Kaisa and I began her session in her parents' backyard tucked up the hill from the Portage Canal in a cozy neighborhood. The stony foundation along their house provided an excellent neutral yet textured backdrop.
We made our next stop further up in the Keweenaw at a family friend's field, the same field I photographed her sister in a couple years before. The crown of Queen Ann's Lace is courtesy of my talented sister at GaileoArt.
Our final stop was made at one of my favorite places in the Keweenaw: Bumbletown. I think this series can give you some clues as to why I'm so obsessed! The summer golden hour bliss gave Kaisa an incredible goddess glow!
I'm including these last frames of Kaisa with her sister Kaylor for a few reasons:
1. They were simply goofing around, but look at how real these photos are! Getting silly and having fun is crucial for great images that simultaneously tell a story in some way or another.
2. If there's someone like your sibling or best friend that helps keep you at ease, it can be a great idea to bring them along on your shoot! Kaisa brought along my sister, who just so happens to be her friend too, and another friend as her support group essentially. However, choosing the right people to bring along is super important. If you plan to bring someone, pick someone who you get goofy with and let your personality come out. I must include this because sometimes bringing a parent results in the subject being more rigid, situation dependent, of course.
3. I dig their rendition of the Titanic 'I'm flying' pose.
