Raymond + MacKenzie | Engaged with a Splash!

You truly couldn’t meet a sweeter pair of humans than MacKenzie and Raymond - and they come by it honestly. This past summer, they invited me to stay at Ray’s parents’ house in Richmond, Michigan with them, where we wandered the southern Michigan landscape for their engagement photos. Ray’s parents welcomed me into their home like a close family friend and set up a place for me to sleep for the night. A bonus to the trip - MacKenzie’s brother, Zach, tagged along. Zach is one of my dearest college friends. Now that we’ve both graduated and we’ve left Marquette, we’re not graced with as much time together as we used to have to create deep conversations about anything or go spontaneously adventuring. Well past sunset, we all visited in lawn chairs in their garage, just visiting and being.

Ray and MacKenzie are lighthearted, unceasingly smiling, and absolutely contagious to be around in general. We began their session on bike trails nearby Ray’s childhood home.

Despite the apparent sun in the previous frames, rain showers swiftly rolled in as we ventured along a riverside. What you don’t see in the following: the HORRENDOUS bugs. Thankfully Zach came along with one of those zapper rackets to save the day. All this photo set is missing is Zach’s ninja-bug-swatting as a photo bomb, haha!

We then made a stop to a local Catholic church. Maybe I’m biased being raised in the Catholic faith since infancy, but I must say Catholic churches are absolutely the most beautiful!!!

As the sun dimmed to dusk, we ran into the soybean fields along Ray’s family’s property:

Although the sun had sunk below the horizon, they had one last request: a water balloon fight! An ultimate reflection of their infectiously fun personalities!

I couldn’t think of a better duo to kick off wedding season this spring! I can’t wait to see you two + your families in May! xo
